Hosting a 1, 3 Celebration

If you find yourself going through a personal trial,
you may notice that it is difficult
to focus on anything but yourself.

Our tendency is to look inward-
to send out the invitations for a pity-party.

Instead of pity-party invitations,
plan instead for a 1, 3 celebration.

The guideline for this celebration is found in Psalm 34:1,3
and it isn't an expensive event to host.

The first part of the celebration begins with you:
'I will bless the Lord at all times
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.'

Now its time to send out the invitations:
'O magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt His name together.

Notice that Psalmist didn't claim his burdens
were light or insignificant.
He only recognized that continual praise
coming from our lips to the Lord is worthy.

Then he calls for others to join in the exaltation.

Do you feel like a pity-party today?
Call someone to magnify the Lord with you.
Celebrate His goodness together!

  1. Thank you, Sharon, for sharing this advice! It really is all too easy to give into the temptation to focus on self and feel sorry for ourselves. I love and appreciate the way you have drawn my attention to the importance of PRAISING the Lord, in my own heart, as well as corporately!
