Native to South America, these lovely plants are quite an eye-catcher.
Reds, yellows, and purples begin in the centers,
fanning out into greens- often with stripes down the edges of the leaves.
The centers catch rain water and delightful little blooms
pop up like little baby birds with their mouths open.
The lizards can be seen scurrying all over the neoregelia.
The plants need to live in climates that stay above 50 degrees.
They make beautiful ground cover or edging for a sidewalk or garden...
but wherever they are, I have to stop and look!
Consider the lilies, how they grow:
they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you,
even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
